WOD For a Cause, Sunday, October 7th

This Thanksgiving weekend, we are opening our doors on the Sunday in an effort to raise funds for a family in need. The CrossFit community is comprised of people from all walks of life, with one large group of them being in health care. One of their own is in need of some help, and so we are looking to do what we can to make things easier for them.

Here’s the cause:

“My friend Sheryl Burke is a RN at St Paul's hospital. She has 3 kids. 5 years ago, her oldest son got really sick with a virus. His illness from this virus got so bad it affected his heart, and here we are 5 years later and he has gone into heart failure at the age of 12. He was airlifted in August to Edmonton for life saving open heart surgery. They inserted a pump temporarily until he receives a new heart and Sheryl and him are to stay there until then. To raise money, as Sheryl is off work and needing to stay in Edmonton, nurses from St Paul's have organized a steak night fundraiser on Oct 12 at Pleasure Way Pub (soccer center). $20 per plate, $15 for kids.”

Many of our members at StrongFit are nurses, and while they are already organizing a silent auction and fundraiser, we are asking for donations for those that want to come in and WOD on Sunday. This is open to the public, provided they have CrossFit experience.
