Sun Mar 24 "Run Club Week 1"

Today’s the start of our 10 Week Run Program leading up to the Sask Marathon! We will spend every Sunday fine-tuning our running mechanics and then doing a “longer” run (relative to your goals and experience). You may run by yourself or with a group depending on the distance you’re training for and where you’re starting but expect to run near the gym or as far as through the Hamptons.

Train

1) Establish a warm-up routine: here we will delve into a variety of warm-up drills and stretches that will allow you to optimize run mechanics and reduce risks of injury that can accrue over the running season

2) Practice running mechanics: here we will discuss how to run and try to figure out the gap between what you’re doing and what you’re working towards as far as running mechanics are concerned

3) Running: we’ll be heading outside (dress appropriately) to do longer interval work (run & walk). Time and distance will be determined by how much time we have left in the class but the goal will be to run for 30-60 minutes today at Zone 2.

Not to worry! Feel free to come to OPEN GYM from 9:30am-11:00am to get in something else of your choice:

  • Mobility (we will open the Mobility MVMNT membership so you can choose a video if you like)

  • Strength/Weightlifting work

  • Skill work

  • Make up a CrossFit class/workout from the week
