The CFCL Community Fund: Small Acts, Big Impact

At CFCL, community isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we build together. From pizza parties and skating at the Oval to holiday potlucks and pickleball socials, our best moments happen when members show up for each other. To keep that spirit strong (and make more of those memory-making events possible), we’ve created the CFCL Community Fund.

The Community Fund fuels member-driven initiatives and social events throughout the year—simple, meaningful ways to connect beyond the daily WOD. And the best part? Supporting is about jumping into fun experiences, that end up giving back to you and the whole community.

Fun Ways to Support the Community

1.Request a “Special WOD”

Celebrate your birthday, honour a loved one, or just mark a milestone with a workout made just for you. Our Special WODs are programmed around meaningful dates and favourite movements, that will be featured on a Thursday or Saturday. It’s a unique way to share a moment with the class and make memories that last.

How it works:

  • Fill out the request form (below).

  • Choose your Thursday/Saturday date at least one week in advance.

  • Send your chosen contribution via e-transfer to admin@crossfitonefifty.com.

  • Watch your inbox for confirmation—we’ll handle the rest.

You get a WOD that’s 100% yours, and your contribution helps create more community events for everyone.

2.Farm-Fresh Eggs

Grab a dozen farm-fresh eggs right from the gym fridge! Thanks to Dawn Ciona’s hens, we’ve got breakfast covered—and every carton helps support the Community Fund.

  • Cost: $6/dozen

  • Payment: Honour system via e-transfer to admin@crossfitonefifty.com

Simple, tasty, and community-powered. A huge thank you to Dawn for turning breakfast into community fuel!

3.Monthly Kaiser Tournaments

Coach Meranda is bringing the fun of Kaiser to CFCL! Each month, we’ll gather for a lively tournament with friends, snacks, prizes, and a little friendly competition. Everyone welcome, this is not just for gym members!

What to expect:

  • No advance sign-up—just register an hour before event starts.

  • $7.50–$10 per person (cash preferred; e-transfer available).

  • 4 rounds of 12 hands each.

  • Snacks, coffee, and tea provided.

  • 50/50 raffle + cash prizes for the top five finishers.

Half the proceeds go directly into the Community Fund. You get an afternoon of cards and laughs—our community gets stronger.

4.SARCAN Drop & Go Recycling

Your empties can help build connections! Use our Drop & Go account at any SARCAN depot in Saskatchewan and support the fund while keeping things green.

Here’s how:

  1. Visit any SARCAN depot and head to the Drop & Go station.

  2. Enter the phrase “CFCL fundraiser” when prompted.

  3. Drop your bags and go—the funds comes straight to the CFCL community fund.

It’s fast, easy, and every container adds up to more fun events.

What the Community Fund Supports

When you take part in these initiatives, you’re helping make possible:

  • Community socials like pizza nights, BBQs in the park, pickleball outings and more

  • Seasonal gatherings such as skating at the oval or our Christmas potluck celebration

  • Special challenges and events at the gym like Mock Meets, Mobility challenges and more

The fund helps cover the behind-the-scenes costs so these experiences can happen—letting us focus on creating memories, building connections, and celebrating the strength of our community.

Why It Matters

Fitness gets you through the door. Community keeps you coming back.

Those little extras—learning a new activity together, a special WOD that celebrates you, or an afternoon of cards with friends—turn training partners into teammates and a gym into a second home. The Community Fund helps makes sure those moments continue to happen.
