Lifting Together, Growing Together

When Kelsey Rokosh first walked through the doors at CrossFit CL, it wasn’t to train—it was to drop off her child, Gray, for their very first weightlifting class.

What started as a supportive parent sitting on the sidelines quickly turned into something more. “After a year and a half of dropping Gray off at class, I decided to bite the bullet and join too,” Kelsey says. “So far, I’m really enjoying how much more I push myself in group classes compared to on my own.”

Now, both mother and child are part of the CFCL community—lifting, learning, and growing stronger together.

A Family That Lifts Together

Gray’s journey began with curiosity and has since evolved into confidence, strength, and leadership. As one of the most consistent athletes in our youth program, they’ve become a quiet powerhouse in the gym.

“Gray is a steady, focused lifter who’s grown immensely—not just in skill but in confidence,” says Coach Meranda. “They’ve gone from being shy and quiet to helping younger athletes and laughing with their teammates between lifts. Their progress, especially in the snatch, has been incredible.”

Gray’s love for weightlifting helped spark something in Kelsey, too. As a working mom of two (Hannah and Gray), she’s always valued movement—whether it’s cycling, paddleboarding, or heading out for walks—but strength training has become a more intentional focus in the past few years. Watching Gray grow stronger inspired her to do the same.

Finding Strength in Community

Kelsey works as the Director of HR at Prairie Diagnostic Services and balances a busy schedule both at work and at home. CrossFit offers more than just a physical outlet—it’s structure, community, and accountability all in one.

“Having the classes booked in my calendar helps me stay consistent,” she says. “It’s just part of my day now.”

And just like Gray, she’s found a space where she’s supported and encouraged to push herself further—no matter where she’s starting from. Their shared experience at the gym has become something they both look forward to—and something that’s uniquely theirs.

Looking Ahead

Kelsey may be early in her CrossFit journey, but she’s already setting the example for what it means to show up, stay curious, and grow. And Gray? Their future in weightlifting looks bright—driven by quiet determination, strong friendships, and the support of a parent who stepped in and said, “Me too.”

We’re so proud to have both of them as part of the CFCL crew.
