MEMBER FEATURE: Noah & Victoria Tysoe
Teen Siblings, Big Goals, and Even Bigger Energy at CFCL
They might be two of our youngest members, but Noah and Victoria Tysoe are already leaving a big impression at CrossFit CL. Whether it’s hitting AMRAPs in the morning, setting goals for their respective sports, or trading friendly sibling competition (yes—Victoria did win the left-arm arm wrestle), this brother-sister duo brings energy, drive, and heart to every workout.
Originally from Perth, Australia, the Tysoe family moved to Saskatoon a few years ago. With four siblings in total, Noah and Victoria are the oldest—and both chose to take on the challenge of CrossFit this year. What started as a way to support their sports has quickly grown into something more.
Finding CrossFit, and Finding Their Pace
Noah first discovered CrossFit through his dad, a former CFCL member. “I joined to establish strong, healthy habits in my youth that I can carry into adulthood—and to get stronger for baseball and hopefully hit some dingers,” he says.
Victoria was a little more hesitant at first. “When Dad first posed the idea, I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy working out that regularly or that hard,” she admits. “But after a few days, I loved it—I couldn’t wait to go again!”
Now, both teens are hooked. You’ll find Noah at the early morning class, pushing his limits. “I love that Jason always pushes me to go harder and faster than everyone in the class. I love to be pushed.” And Victoria? “I love pull-ups. And the community—everyone is so welcoming and encouraging.”
Goals, Growth, and Getting Stronger
For Noah, CrossFit started as a way to complement his training at the Going Yard Goats Baseball Academy. Now, his goals have expanded: “I’ve gotten stronger since I started, and it’s been fun. But I also want to explore competing in CrossFit and see how far I can push myself.”
Victoria’s goals are focused on volleyball. “I wanted to get stronger so I can hit harder and jump higher—and I can already feel the difference in my practices. My hits and serves are stronger, and I’m sleeping better at night because my body is truly tired!”
She’s also working toward her first strict pull-up. “That’s my little goal right now—and I’m getting closer!”
Challenges, Mantras & Mental Toughness
Every athlete knows growth doesn’t come without challenge. For Noah, it’s the mental battle: “The hardest part is pushing through and getting out of my head. I repeat a phrase to myself: ‘Do today what other people aren’t willing to, so you can do tomorrow what others can’t.’ That helps me keep going.”
For Victoria, it’s the running. “I overcome it by breaking it down and just focusing on what I need to do in that moment.”
Both have learned that consistency beats perfection. As Victoria puts it, “Be coachable. You’ll eventually get there. Never give up.”
More Than a Gym
CrossFit CL has quickly become a second home for both teens. “I love that I’m getting better in some way, shape, or form every time I show up,” says Noah. “And the people—everyone talks to each other and is there when you need help.”
Victoria agrees. “Every time I walk through the door, someone greets me with a smile or holds it open. That made it easy to get over my nerves in the beginning. I’ve made friends, found a routine, and gained more independence by getting myself to and from the gym.”
The list of people who’ve inspired them is long, but both shout out Coach Jason for his energy and support. Victoria also gives credit to Natalie and Tiep for motivating her early on.
Future Focused
So what’s next for the Tysoes?
For Noah: “I want to compete in as many CrossFit events as Jason will let me. I love the workouts with running, pull-ups, squats, weighted vests… and there has to be a dog in the gym. Lemon is my favourite.”
For Victoria: “My big goal is to make a competitive club volleyball team this year—and one day compete with CrossFit CL too.”
And just in case the CFCL parents are reading: “I’m a qualified babysitter,” Victoria adds. “Happy to help out with your kids!”
Final Thoughts from Two Future Legends
Noah: “CrossFit hasn’t changed my view on health and fitness—I’ve always loved sports—but it’s made me love and appreciate CrossFit as a sport. I can’t wait to keep exploring my limits in this fun and supportive gym.”
Victoria: “It’s a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I’m excited for the day I can compete in CrossFit, and in the meantime, I’m just loving the journey.”
Watch out for these two young go-getters. We are grateful you found your way to the CFCL community and we can’t wait to see where life, fitness and sport take you both!
