The StrongFit Nutrition & Wellness Challenge
Your SFYXE Team is proud to present to you our first nutrition and wellness challenge!
We have heard your requests and have been working together to find the best way to deliver this challenge to you. Our team is comprised of experienced and knowledgeable coaches, each bringing their own experiences as professionals and athletes. Here's a short bio of your local nutrition experts:
"Born and raised in a family restaurant, nutrition has always been part of my life - positively and negatively. Post-secondary and graduate degrees in biochemistry (human metabolism) and nutrition/exercise physiology gave me tools to help myself and others, but also resources to become pre-occupied and obsessed with dietary intake and exercise. A decade of a struggling journey through body building competition preparations, eating disorders and finding an improved relationship with food has provided practical experience to balance my theoretical knowledge. I've been offering nutrition education and coaching for the past 7 years helping clients gather and execute lifelong practices to improve their health and dietary patterns. You have no bigger investment in your life than your body - without your health and wellness you have no quality of life. Respect, love, invest and have compassion for yourself and fuel your body with the quality and quantity of nutrition it needs."

Nutrition Educator and Coach
"I was born and raised on a Saskatchewan farm. Our large vegetable garden, home-made meals and made-from-scratch baking sparked my early interest and passion for food and nutrition. I have always valued the cultural importance of great meals that are shared around a large table at my family gatherings. I love entertaining and hosting friends at my place where I can cook and bake and subject them to new recipes and combinations of food. My love for food is evident to anyone who knows me, but my first true love was volleyball. It is through life in competitive sport that really fueled my desire to learn more about how food and nutrition can impact and enhance athletic performance. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Psychology, I went on to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition in 2006. As a registered dietitian, I have been able to share my knowledge with clients across the continuum of health, from healthy eating and disease prevention to mitigation of complications of existing diseases."
Registered Dietitian, practicing for 11 years in a wide variety of areas mostly in the hospital setting (critical care and surgery). Main nutrition interests are these days are general health promotion and disease prevention.

The Challenge
While we are calling it a "challenge" we want to keep it simple and progressive. What we want is the same as our training - slow and steady progress that is safe, realistic, and maintainable. How do we do that? Education! Here are the details:
- The challenge will be 12 weeks long with new challenges presented every two weeks
- For each two week block, there will be a nutrition challenge and an activity/wellness challenge
- Each two week challenge builds on the previous block, so that change is steady and manageable
- Each participant will be provided with a log sheet to monitor their challenge
- We will have a private Facebook group where participants can view our challenges, a detailed explanation of the "why" of each challenge, and tips to stay on track.
- For those participants that are able to make it through to the end of the 12 weeks, you will be entered into a draw for a prize
- StrongFit Coaches will also nominate, vote for, and award prizes based on changes that have been observed in classes
- Registration cost is $20 to be e-transferred or paid in cash
- Proceeds go towards the StrongFit Social Club
- Start date of March 13th
