How to get started at StrongFit

There are many ways of starting an exercise program. I tried a few different things before I really found something I enjoyed. I joined a friend for a drop-in MMA class, which resulted in me throwing up after the warm-up and then hiding in the washroom until my friend retrieved me from my cold, sad prison. The next time I tried exercising I was convinced that I should start running. I had someone I was running with, we set a goal of running 5km, and finally when it was all over I was looking for the next thing. Fast forward a few months and I discovered CrossFit.

For most people, their journey isn’t all that different. You try something on your own, it was difficult and not something you bit into. Maybe you joined a free class with a friend, enjoyed that you got the push from others but again, it didn’t stick for whatever reason. I firmly believe that while everyone can do CrossFit, not everyone will enjoy CrossFit.

How we ensure that people are getting their best first experience with CrossFit is by having them go through our Foundations program. You won’t learn everything you need to in the 6 x 90 minute sessions, but you will feel more comfortable with the structure of how our CrossFit classes are run and you’ll have developed a relationship with the coaches and fellow gym-goers. In just a few classes, you’ll remember the names of the movements, you’ll feel comfortable with practicing the movements, and eventually you’ll be able to push yourself. I believe that by introducing new people to CrossFit in this way we can give it a fair shake, rather than jumping into a huge class with a workout that looks more like a sweaty bootcamp than what our classes are really like; a strength-biased program with complex movements performed at various intensities and duration.

In order to give new people a chance to invest in themselves with as few barriers as possible, we are now offering Trial Foundations Classes. These classes are the same as you would experience when you start up a membership with us - a 30 minute personal training session followed by a 60 minute CrossFit class. We do charge $21 for these sessions which can be credited towards your first month’s membership should you decide to sign up afterwards. If you do not choose to sign up, you’ve just paid for an accurate representation of what CrossFit at our gym feels like with personal training and personal training in a group setting.

If you already have CrossFit experience and do not need to go through our Foundations program, you can enjoy the best rates in the city on a Month-To-Month Contract. Your first drop-in is free if you contact jason@strongfityxe.com prior to dropping in.

If you already have CrossFit experience and would like to try us out for a week, or you’re visiting us from out of town for a few days and would like to come often, we have a Weekly Unlimited Membership option for $42.

These options are all available through our website: http://strongfityxe.com/how-to-get-started

If you know you enjoy CrossFit but aren’t currently doing it for whatever reason, try us out with no commitments, see how we CrossFit differently.
