April Hovland
Among the OG's at CrossFit CL (150), April Hovland (Snapey, Ape the Snape or "Apes") has been with us the whole way. Through every rep, every high five, every smile, and every handmade bar of soap :)
Her CFCL Journey: April's journey with CrossFit started back in the summer of 2012, during a "Bring a Friend" day. Little did she know that one visit would spark a flame that continues to burn bright to this day. Initially drawn in by the challenge of the workouts, she quickly discovered the deeper allure of CrossFit – the tight-knit community and unwavering support from fellow members. Following Jason from one gym to another, April found herself at home in the CFCL family. It's the passion and dedication of the coaches like Jason and the camaraderie among members that keep her coming back, day after day.
Favorite Weekend Pursuits: When the weekend rolls around, April embraces the great outdoors with gusto. Whether it's leisurely walks with her furry companion, heart-pumping hikes, perfecting her swing on the golf course, or finding tranquility on a paddleboard, April thrives under the sun. And when the winter chill sets in...she seeks refuge in warmer climates :)
Top CrossFit Picks: In the realm of CrossFit movements, April has her favorites. Cleans, front squats, and pull-ups hold a special place in her heart. And recently, she has begun to have a newfound love for snatch days!
Beyond the Gym: Outside the gym, April's creativity runs wild while she is crafting handmade soap. Growing up she has always been into art, so for her this is a way for her to make art out of every batch. It is also a side business, and one that she uses to give back to the community as well - as she has been a regular supporter of CFCL community events. But her passion for art doesn't stop there, as she enjoys strumming on her ukulele and joining weekly jam sessions with friends!
We are truly grateful to have April as a part of the CFCL gym fam. She has been a pillar of support throughout the community – a gym buddy, a soap artisan, and a friend to all. Thanks for being you April.
