MEMBER FEATURE: Tegan Pfefferle
We’re thrilled to feature Tegan, a longtime member who has truly become a standout at CFCL! Since joining in 2022, she’s tackled new challenges, celebrated personal victories, and brought an incredible energy to the gym. Tegan’s journey is a beautiful mix of strength, resilience, and family. Let’s dive in and learn more about her story!
A Passion for Community and Family
Tegan is a Registered Nurse who works full-time in community nursing, a role she’s incredibly passionate about. She’s dedicated to creating safe spaces for all who access services and is currently pursuing her Master of Health Administration.
Balancing her professional life with her roles as a mother of three and kokum to her granddaughter (who calls her "koko"), Tegan is an inspiration. Her granddaughter still talks about watching her "koko" at the gym and wanting to be strong just like her. Tegan says, "Best compliment ever!"
Outside of the gym, Tegan cherishes spending time with her family, especially during the summer when she loves watching her youngest dance powwow.
How It All Began
Tegan’s CrossFit journey started in 2022 after she reached out to Melissa about the gym she was attending. “I randomly stopped by during the day. Jason was coaching that day and invited me to try the next morning. The rest is history. I was absolutely nervous about starting!”
Her initial goal was simple: “Show up and try it all!” Since then, she has learned so much and continues to grow in her fitness journey.
Favorite and Not-So-Favorite Movements
When it comes to workouts, Tegan has her preferences:
Favorite Movement: Cleans. She recently hit a personal record, something she never thought she could do. “I didn’t think I was capable as I’m getting older.”
Least Favorite Movement: Snatches. “I used to avoid WODs when snatches were programmed!”
Why She Keeps Coming Back
For Tegan, the gym community is unmatched. “Everyone at the gym is motivating. The community environment is hands-down the best! The early morning crew is what keeps me coming back. The coaches and members are so encouraging, fun, energetic, welcoming, knowledgeable, and overall great humans. I think the coaches think I’m stronger than I actually am and make me work hard lol...wouldn’t have it any other way.”
CrossFit has become an essential part of her life. “CrossFit supports my physical health when playing with my nosim (grandbaby) and, most importantly, my overall mental health ++!! Mental health in check has improved all areas, professionally and personally!”
Words of Wisdom
Tegan’s advice to anyone considering CrossFit: “It’s fun and scaled to ability and comfort level.”
Her fitness journey is rooted in her love for family and her excitement about becoming a stronger koko. And if you ask us, she’s already one of the strongest around—in every sense of the word! Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey Tegan <3
