Inner Gymnast CrossFit Camp
This Sunday Gymnastics class will focus on the finer points when it comes to bar muscle ups and handstands. There isn’t always time to spend working on specific skills that you’d like to add to your Crossfit toolbox. We all know you can get more reps in by doing drill work and drill work breaks down a movement into the finer details. This is a class dedicated to putting in the practice that it takes to complete these skills. A lot of you are already strong enough to perform these skills, but haven’t had dedicated time to practice. Just like we would work on snatch pulls or snatch balances this class is intended to focus on breaking apart these 2 gymnastic movements to increase your understanding and efficiency. The more muscles we learn to involve while doing a movement the more reps we can generate, and who doesn’t want more reps??
The goal of this class is to improve skills you already have or are close to achieving by focusing on the fundamentals; i.e. if you can improve or maintain your handstand hold then you can improve your handstand walking. Some goals of the class are:
to build confidence in all inverted movements
find your center of balance
improve your static handstand hold
learn to shift your weight while in a handstand position
walk on your hands
learn to exit a handstand using a walk-out/handstand roll
break down the BMU into key components
work on generating power in the kip swing using hollow and arched body positions
improve using C2B and bar dips, banded bar-muscle ups, spotted BMU
learn the variations of the BMU: standard, hybrid, glide-kip
get that first BMU! or be on your way to getting it
if you have BMU, performing them with maximal efficiency to spare energy for other components of WODs

Dates: February 17th, 24th, March 3rd, March 10th
90 Minutes x 4 Days = $60 + GST
On March 13th at 8pm, there will be a "wind-up" available to attend. We will be doing a drop-in at a local gymnastics gym during open gym time to have some fun with what we've learned on a sprung floor/soft mats! This drop-in fee is included in your registration.
