Jump Rope Clinic with Alyssa (Fundraiser)

Date: January 2025 TDB
Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Cost: $20

Join us for a special Jump Rope Clinic led by one of our members Alyssa Hamilton - a former competitive skipper with over 28 years of experience! Alyssa started jumping rope at age 5 in Whitehorse, Yukon, where her school’s skipping club quickly became a competitive team. She has competed at the BC/Yukon Provincials, performed at community events across the Yukon, and even competed at Nationals in Ottawa.

In this clinic, Alyssa, along with our head coach Jason, will teach the fundamentals of jump rope, helping you improve your speed, power, and technique. Whether you're new to skipping or looking to refine your double unders, this is a great opportunity to learn from an expert. The session will cover both basic and advanced jump rope skills, including speed steps, double unders, and freestyle tricks!

This clinic is open to all skill levels, and all proceeds will go towards supporting our community events. Don’t miss out on the chance to have fun, challenge yourself, and give back!

Festive Feats of Fitness & Potluck

🎄 Save the Date for a Festive Celebration! 🎄

We’re excited to continue our cherished tradition of hosting a Holiday Potluck, bringing our amazing community together to celebrate the season.

This year, we’re turning up the holiday cheer by introducing the inaugural Festive Feats of Fitness—an exciting event for the whole family to enjoy!

🌟 Here’s the Plan:

9:00 AM & 10:30 AM: Festive Feats of Fitness
Classes will extend to 1.5 hours each for the day. Join us for as long as you’d like—whether it’s an hour or the full time to complete all the challenges!

Gather your team (family, friends, or even new gym buddies) and tackle up to 8 fun and challenging feats of fitness:

  • Back Squat

  • Press

  • Deadlift

  • Snatch

  • Clean & Jerk

  • Chin-Up Hold

  • Handstand Hold

  • Double Unders

Each accomplishment earns points for your team (e.g., 1 lb lifted = 1 point, 1 second of a hold = 1 point, 1 skip = 1 point). There might even be a trophy to win… and, of course, ultimate bragging rights!

Our coaches will be on hand to guide, encourage, and cheer you on, ensuring it’s a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

12:00 PM: Holiday Potluck Lunch
Bring a dish to share and enjoy a delicious spread of community favourites. We’ll have a cozy movie playing for the kids, followed by our traditional thank-yous, awards, and time to connect with friends.

🎅 We can’t wait to celebrate the season with all of you—fitness, food, and festive fun await!

PRIZES will be awarded for best-dressed teams, most distance covered, and highest amount of money raised/pledged. Thank you to April Rose Artistry for donating towards these prize packages!

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is the course suitable for kids? YES! This event is for all ages and skill levels. The approx 1km loop leaves from and returns to the gym, with mutiple volunteers directing and cheering along the way.

  • Do team members run one at a time or seperate? It is really up to you. A regular relay has one person running at a time but we are all out here to have fun, so if you would prefer to move as a group (or partial group) that is wonderful! We will have a “baton” for team members to pass from one person to the next.

  • Can I bring my pet? Yes! This is a fur-friendly event and all pets are welcome! The SPCA will also have some adoptables at the event too. We just ask that all pets be kept on a lead :)

We are still seeking SPONSORS for this event. Donations towards registration bags (up to 100), prizes (up to 12 packages), and more are greatly appreciated. If you or your business are interested, please email val@crossfitonefifty.com.

Thank you to our current sponsors:

Additionally, we're still in need of VOLUNTEERS for various roles such as setup/takedown, team check-in/recording, and course assistance. Your help on the day would be invaluable. If you're available to volunteer, please reach out to val@crossfitonefifty.com.
